About 241 Books

We are a team of former educators and curriculum developers who believe that literacy and social studies are natural partners. Through books that marry fiction with nonfiction, teachers can practice reading skills needed to build confident readers while also introducing key social studies content. The result? Students who are curious to learn about and connect with the world around them.

Our Mission

Build stronger readers and better citizens. Reading builds knowledge, but also connection and community.

Our goal is to provide engaging books and classroom-ready learning materials that make it easy for an elementary or middle-school teachers to build reading skills through content-rich stories.

    Erin was a middle school educator before transitioning to full-time curriculum development in 2019. She has worked in a variety of roles in educational publishing and ed tech including writing lessons and activities, assessment items and passages, and hi-lo readers.

    FOUNDER | CREATIVE & DESIGN

    A true multi-hyphenate, Amy designs and creates videos, animations, graphics, and documents, among other media. After several years in TV broadcasting, Amy shifted into educational media in 2019.

    A California Teacher of the Year and a 34-year veteran of the classroom, Steve has a deep love for teaching. He’s developed curriculum for top educational publishers like History Alive! and Seesaw, always with an emphasis on making social studies more engaging and impactful.

    Our 9-book series make it easy to cover a year’s worth of social studies content without the burden of a tedious textbook. In as little as 15 minutes a day, our case-study approach offers compelling stories, vocabulary acquisition, word study, and standards-based lesson activities. We’ve even included a passage-based assessment for testing practice.

  • 241 Books anchors every fun, engaging book with science of reading literacy skills. Each book focuses on specific prefixes, suffixes, root words, and vocabulary. By pairing fiction with nonfiction, we strengthen comprehension and real-world connections. Every book and lesson also includes multiple opportunities for students to write and ends with a carefully designed assessment that addresses essential ELA standards such as finding the main idea, using context clues, and writing to different prompts.

  • Each of our flexible learning experiences is designed with ease-of-use for the teacher in mind. Suggestions in the Teacher’s Guide provide extra support to learners who need it. Instruction is multi-modal and includes audio, hands-on activities, writing, and speaking. In addition, many activities are created for flexible use in the classroom so teachers can have students do them in groups, as a whole class, or individually. Finally, these books and lessons provide enough content that they can be taught over the course of a few days to a few weeks.
